April Johnston worked for nearly 10 years writing in-depth narratives for newspapers and magazines in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Ohio. She’s won more than 30 national, regional and state journalism awards. After earning her MFA from Carlow University┬áin 2008, she began publishing essays and short fiction. A return to journalism in 2014 resulted in the narrative nonfiction piece Twin, which was named a category finalist in the Eric Hoffer Book Awards.

She lives in Pittsburgh with her husband and daughter and publishes a quarterly story about the city at Nebby.
